I made it |-------------| this far

After a weekend of on-again-off-again struggles with patterns and my own utter stupidity here's what the border on the quilt is shaping up to....

As of last night, all the corners are in and I have about 6.5 inches of border to finish. I can't guarantee a happy ending until all the stitches are in though... not the way I've been with this border. Here's my helpful hint: if you have a 108 threads long side and you think you're safe because you're using Scotch squares that are 4 threads each, possibly you should remember that when you've made a pattern with said squares that actual means you have an 8-threads stitch, not a 4-thread one. Sigh. Some fiddling made it all right, but for a while I was ready to chuck it all.

For the record, the fiddling can be seen in the first picture at the lower corner. On each side of the flower I inserted elongated Scotch block of 4 stitches to make up the difference. The diagonally opposite corner has the same set up. I think they are fairly invisible unless you are analyzing the piece and once you do see them, at least it's symmetrical.
