I stitch and I'm a moron

Since I may not have time for a post tomorrow, I'm giving you the what-I-hauled-with-me and what-I-accomplished-while-house-ditting post tonight. Although, seeing as it's after 2 am it really is tomorrow. Anyway.

Please remember, last year I showed up to house-sit with this accumulation of possible stitching:
6_26_2008 061
6_26_2008 073

This year I only arrived initially with this:
1_26_2008 048
But on subsequent drops by The Hovel to check the mail, I picked up "a few things." So eventually I amassed this here in house-sitting heaven:
2_08_2008 063
Those bags include:
2_08_2008 064
2_08_2008 071
2_08_2008 077
2_08_2008 080
2_08_2008 082
2_08_2008 091
2_08_2008 094
2_08_2008 096
2_08_2008 102
2_08_2008 100

Granting that I was sort of smash and grabbing when I dropped in for mail at my homestead, but really, what was I thinking. More to the point, WAS I thinking???? lol

Dear friends, despite my obvious insanity, I have made progress, and since I promised a report, here you go. While house-sitting my final accomplishments are as follows.
I went from this:
11_23_2008 002
to DONE!!!!!!!!!!:
2_08_2008 075
Nope, I have narry a clue what I'm going to do with it. Any finishing thoughts strike you?

I went from this (actually from the very start of this):
1_23_2008 037
to DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!:
2_08_2008 066
Woo hooo!!!!!!!!

I went from this:
11_08_2008 013
to this:
2_08_2008 107
that's Black Swan's limited edition dragon

I went from not started to this:
2_08_2008 105

I went from here:
11_17_2008 009
to here (and I'd have finished that too if I'd remembered to bring the red beads along -- you'd think in all that stash I'd have managed to have a frelling baggie of red beads, but nooooo):
Drat. I can't find the picture right now.

from here on my fife and drum:
1_26_2008 050
to here:
2_08_2008 096
Please note the huge change of th strings on the side of the drum! lol

And I went from here:
1_12_2008 080
to somewhere further, but I forgot to take a picture this evening.... cross your fingers for tomorrow.

So, gentle readers, I am feeling rather accomplishful. And with that I shall leave you for the evening, err morning. Hope to see you later today!

Wow! That's just... wow. You take more stuff to tide you over on a housesitting expedition that I have going to the other side of the country for a year! (Well, almost... I might have a little bit more. :P)

Congrats on the finishes! :D

LOL! Looks like you were well prepared for any stitching mood :) I usually travel with way too many projects, but you definitely have me beat...by far!

You really did make great progress, though!

Gosh, looks like you were prepared for all eventualities (well, apart from the beads...) - did you take any clothes or was it all stitching stuff :o)

LOL, you crack me up! Hey, what's that saying, 'shoot for the moon & at least you'll end up among the stars' or something like that... it's good to be prepared! You did get a lot accomplished, everything looks great--love those drummers especially. Good luck with the hiring of the U-Haul to bring it all home! ;)

you must look like the proverbial stitching granny hauling all that stash around. You were prepared for any mood though - weren't you.
Nice accomplishments though.

Hey Ruth:

What is the Fife and Drum pattern. I have to have one tell me where you got this?

Thanks,
Polly

Is that your stash or a traveling needlework store?? LOL! You've got some fabulous projects in the works. No wonder you didn't want to leave any of them home. However could you decide which ones to leave behind??

Looks like you used your house-sitting time wisely. You made great progress!!

wow, what a haul. Now am I to guess, by all your housesitting and other adventues, that you are not working at the college?

I love it!! I am so happy to see that there are other people in the world that have way higher than sane goals!! Someone teased me at MB for having a mere 11 projects with me - go figure.

I really am impressed with all that you got done though, I love the white on blue - maybe a pillow or an inset into a purse or stitching bag.

You are really going to get me back into needlepointing if I don't watch out and quit coming here. But then, I would miss all the fun you provide.

Thanks for that.

Wow - I don't know which to be most impressed with - what you took with you and what you did! All looks most wonderful and you accomplished so much. Congrats!

oh dear blogger does not want to play with me and all I am seeing is loads and loads of blank boxes where pictures should be. I will have to check back tomorrow and see it it will play then.

Oh, dear Lord, Ruth! I do the exact same thing. Often I don't care if I even have enough clothes packed as long as I have my needlework and books!! :P Somebody needs to seriously deal with you and me! But, you can actually say you accomplished something and probably the enormity of the stash gave you all the comforts of home.. :) Deb

Where did you get your fife and drum pattern? My daughter and I play in a fife and drum corps and I'd love to stitch this one. Great job on your other pieces as well.

Thanks a bunch,
